This unique trekking combination circuits two regions of particular cultural and geographic interest. The first takes us to Tsurpu, former seat of the Karmapa (main incarnation) of the Zhanagpa or Black Hat Karma Kargyupa school of Buddhism. Perched in a stunning mountain setting, this monastery until recent times housed a thousand monks. Taking in astounding views of the Yangbajing Valley and the surrounding peaks of the snowy Nyanchhan Thanglha Range, we continue on to the high mountain village of Leten. Our descent through rugged barren valleys brings us to the surprising Kargyupa nunnery of Dorjeeling, from where we continue on to the important monastic center of Yangbajing.

Originating on the windswept grassland of Dangxong our second leg is a spectacular loop around the mystical waters of Namtso Lake, Tibet's second largest saltwater lake. Following still used caravan routes we skirt the deep blue waters, visiting the cave hermitages of Tashi Do before passing into the remote regions of the Nyanchhan Thanglha Range. Crossing the Kong La Pass, we re-emerge through deep glacial valleys to the grassland nomad center of Dangxong. Commencing in Hong Kong, this program offers all usual sightseeing opportunities around Lhasa as well as side trips to Gyantse and Shigatse. The departure flight to Kathmandu ensures unforgettable farewell views of the entire Himalayan panorama.
