This overland journey take us to Tibet's northern and eastern frontier - Amdo and Kham.
Starting from the far north in Qinghai province and heading south across the Changtang
Plateau - Ancestral home of Amdo Nomads and the birth place of 14th Dalai Lama.
Our journey takes us to the great Yellow Hat monasteries of Labrang and Kumbu, as well as
the legendary Lake Kokonor. We drive through the wild Golok Grasslands in the shadow of
the Mt. Amnye Machen Range, after Jeykundo-the important trading center of Amdo, we drive
into the vast high grassland of Kham in Sichuan province where we visit the culture centre
of Dege on the banks of the upper Yangtse and the largest monastery of Kham in Ganze.
Heading south along the Yangtse River, crossing the Tibet tablelands we drive to Lithang
and enter Yunnan province to Gyalthang, the pearl of South Kham-a highland town provide a
great opportunity to explore snow peaks, alpine lakes and 'flower seas', Buddhist
monasteries of the Tibetan borderland. After experience the magnificent landscapes and
intriguing minority cultures of Lijiang and Dali, we fly to Kunming and return home from
Hong Kong.
