Tibet is a sacred land of mystery and splendor, awesome views and
extraordinary people. For centuries Tibet has been shrouded in secrecy and forbidden to
foreigners, but now the Roof of the World, with its ancient treasures and spectacular
landscapes, can be experienced by the ordinary traveler.
We fly from Chengdu, the
gateway of Tibet to Lhasa, capital of Tibet lies in the valley of Lhasa River, a branch of
Kichu River with an altitude of 3607m. Our visit to the Roof of the World reveals such
treasure as the Potala Palace, recently listed as a world heritage site, the largest
monastic university - Drepung Monastery, the central cathedral Jokhang Temple and the
colorful Barkhor bazaar.
